I have little doubt that “Human” will score a love scene on Gossip GIrl by the end of the month.”

    lol.

Great song, nothing wrong with sams town though. The killers are one of the few bands where i like every single song theyve ever done.
  • Jackson · 1 year ago
This here new killers' single "Human" sounds like new order meets bruce springsteen, and spliced w/ a bit of bowie style lyricism.
"Are we human or are we Dancer?"

On a side note Sam's Town is a great album, Flowers claims it be one of the greatest records of the last twenty years, while critics claimed it to be a poor album knocking off bruce springsteens born to run. i say born to run is one of the greatest albums of its time, and sam's town is as to these last twenty years.
  • Sean · 1 year ago
Honestly, I thought Sam's Town was amazing. This new tune sounds too much like they're trying to write another Mr. Brightside.

Flowers said that this song would please Mr. Brightside's fans.

Stuart Price has done a great job.

Sam's Town was a great album. I hope they didn't listen to the critics.

Human is okay but it sounds exactly like the Mr. Brightside remix from Sawdust, which was also produced by Stuart Price.

This song does not suck - it is great! They are back to a little bit of Hot Fuss sound with the music there. I love Sam's Town as well and it will ultimately go down as a Classic. A very solid album through and through. Hf & ST are distinctly different sounds/vibes - I embrace them both and delight in their multiple talents. This will please fans who were disappointed by ST..and now the ST loyal will say what happened. Feel the love people, it's all good, it's great music, period!

Sam's Town wasn't even in the top 50 of its year, much less the last 20 years... it wasn't bad, just very very mediocre. Hot Fuss was a very solid album, but they aren't anything like they were on Hot Fuss anymore. This song sucks.

You want good synth-based pop? Of Montreal. Good Springsteen-esque rock? Titus Andronicus.

    You're welcome.
  • Matt · 1 year ago
Sorry, but this song sounds nothing like Mr. Brightside. I love it though! Good work that I think is in a new direction for the band. Love the lyrics.

Love the new killers song human. Love the live recordings of spaceman and neon tiger so the new album looks very promising.

    human is awesome..
it is full of vulnerability and joy, its sweet but real, I mean, its The Killers! come on!! :)
  • stephen · 1 year ago
the beauty of this song is it's simplicity...it's reflective and rhetorical. most bands do not have the ability to compose a song that is simultaneously powerful and simple.
  • jackson · 1 year ago
oF MONTREAL and titus andronicus blow, and probably everything else your listening to. surprisingly enough the killers ive always liked, and sams town is their best effort thus far and will probably stay that way. sams town can only arguably be one of the best records of the last twaenty yrs. one of the best of 2006, for sure.
  • David Rogers · 1 year ago
Love the new single. Over the last few years The Killers have not been shy on their musical influences and this is very much from the early Pet Shop Boys days.

I have heard Neon Tiger and Spaceman I believe The Killers are going to release their best album yet at the end of November.

Sounds too much like a remix of a song rather than a song itself...

The Killers should have gone electro-shoegaze, like "Sweet Talk" from Sawdust. This song is waaaay too electro and not enough rock. They've still got their solid songwriting skills but bringing in Price as a producer might have ruined their sound. I'm crossing my fingers for more guitars on the rest of the album.

Oh, and "Kevin" up there sounds like a pretentious PitchDork, who only likes bands that a maximum of 5 people have heard.
  • jonathan · 1 year ago
God Pitchfork is so up its own elitist ass. "Best I can figure, the people I know who take these Las Vegas rockers at least halfway-seriously generally expose themselves to more non-blog media than I do, so they've probably got hits like "When You Were Young" or "Mr. Brightside" imprinted in their subconsciousnesses alongside pleasant memories of watching "The O.C." or playing "Guitar Hero"."

Oh yes because you are SO above it all Marc "Hulk" Hogan. And yeah most people don't need to read blogs to be told what to like, nor do they need the approval and validation of the so-called indie cognoscenti to listen to something.

Good tune.. Sounds like Pet Shop Boys/New Order..

What was wrong with Sam's Town? I thought it was a brilliant album.
  • The Mix Tape Podcast · 1 year ago
This Is terrible!! 'Are we human, or are we dancer?' What the hell does this frickin' mean?

Hot Fuss meant something musically but Sam's Town just didn't match it and Sawdust was exactly that - a byproduct - songs that were never considered good enough for anything much.

I so want the Killers to do it - but this sucks hard!
  • j · 1 year ago
He's not saying "Are we human or are we DANCER" he's actually saying "Are we human or are we DENSER" - it's just pronounced in a strange way (to rhyme with 'answer')
  • Sonic · 1 year ago
Sam's Town was an awesome album, I know looooads of people that would agree. I love every song on it and it is probably one of the best albums for a long time.

Human is a brilliant song, I love the Killers have some variation unlike some bands. It's wonderful synthpop.
  • Pete · 1 year ago
Wonderful single, I think if the rest of the album has some variation (like more Rock) then it will be a brilliant album.

And what's this blog on about people slating Sam's Town!? I've never heard anyone call it a bad album, it's an amazing album.
  • madeline · 1 year ago
I f'in LOVED Sam's Town, I much perfer it to Hot Fuss, and Hot Fuss is fantastic. I have so far immensly enjoyed all the killers have put out. Human sounds cool, but I hope they suprise me more when the album comes out. I don't want Hot Fuss II, though it wouldn't be horrible.
  • Marcelo · 1 year ago
Hahaha "pretentious PitchDork, who only likes bands that a maximum of 5 people have heard." HAHAHAHA..

Looooved Hot Fuss, Loooooved Sam's Town..
Human(although its starting to grow on me) does sound like the remix of an original. I bet you ANYTHING the live version of this sounds a million times better. As a drummer I know Mr. Vannucci wouldnt settle for playing this "techno" version live lol ;p

To all the "indie" elitists, please being popular dont mean "selling out", dayum music nerds!!!

Spaceman actually sounds like it could have been a B side on Hot Fuss, very similar to songs like, "Where is She" "Under the Gun" and "All the pretty faces"

Im gratefull we have an American band like The Killers!
  • Irene · 1 year ago
I love the new song. :)

This song totally sounds like Queen!
  • Liz · 1 year ago
I'm a big Pet Shop Boys fan - used to listen to them obsessively under the covers on my Walkman when I was teeny. All growed up now, and I've loved the Killers since Hot Fuss. This song's just beautiful - I've just listened to it five times in a row, and I'm not bored yet.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
    I agree with "Minimart"
Theres really not many bands like that anymore that i can find. This new single is pretty good start, I think the cd will be pretty great.
Btw There was nothing wrong with Sams town it was an amazing cd itself.

I think Humans is the Killers worst song they've ever released. Why does everyone keep vouching for them when they so blatantly suck since Hot Fuss?

I loved the overall beat of Human, and most of the lyrics I found amazing. But what does he mean by dancer? The word denser would have worked out so much better.
  • l S T E F F l · 8 months ago
I think the band speaks of 'dancers' as almost like 'puppets'. Brandon is speaking of letting go, "platform of surrender" "cut the cord" "close your eyes, clear your heart" This "letting go" is to cease to be "Human" because he no longer has life, (eyes closed, cleared heart) and he feels like a "Dancer", a puppet on strings.

The puppet versus human contrast is throughout. To be human is to have life and choice. To be dancer is to be controlled by strings or "cords"

He uses a play on words, instead of "vital signs" his "signs are vital" and "my hands are cold", i.e. lifeless, he is lifeless, and reading his signs are vital in knowing what he really is. He goes on to "say goodbye" to everything (soul and romance, etc), embarking into that "open door"

Like a slouched puppet, he's on his knees. Puppets have no strength in their legs. Yet he wants to "be let go" and to "cut the cord" could refer to losing his strings and being freed from control, no longer being a puppet. Or it could refer to no longer being human. If you "cut the cord", you pull life support on someone. In mythology, The Fates, "cut your cord" and you die, no longer with the life that makes one Human.

The great thing about this song is I can't figure out if he decided he is "human" or "dancer" and maybe he hasn't decided either, "Am I human....or am I dancer."

Great song after a couple of listens, gotta love the Killers

is it "denser" or "dancer", denser makes more sense to me
